LOST DOGS
HOME

Planning for the future of Australia’s lost dogs and cats...

The Lost Dogs’ Home is one of Australia’s largest animal shelters and has been in operation for 100 years. They reunite lost pets with their families, find new homes for others, and always seek the best possible outcomes for all animals that come into their care.

As best practices in animal welfare continuously develop, so the Home must progress in how they care for animals. The Home decided to capture their strategies and plans for the future in a dedicated microsite and approached Think HQ to make it happen.

The challenge was to present all these statistics and lists of goals in a way that is engaging and easy to digest, highlighting the top line priority, but allowing a reader to dig deeper into the detail if they wish.

As the sole designer on this project, I came up with a dashboard-style UI that would present all the key information about each goal in a clear, easy-to-read way. I also worked with our in-house illustrator and motion designer to develop custom animations of dogs and cats. Each goal features a hero animated illustration, with the rest of the page content dotted throughout with spot illustrations. These break up the reading of serious content and introduce an element of delight to the experience.

It was also the first time that our development team incorporated the use of Lottie files into one of our site builds – a technology that I suggested as a way of being able to integrate so many animations into the site in an efficient way.
